Troubleshooting.

The microphone is blocked

Ramble shows "Microphone access was blocked." Allow microphone access for the site in your browser settings and try again. If it says no microphone is available, connect one. If it says the microphone is busy, close other apps that record.

Live dictation produced nothing, or stopped partway

Live dictation relies on your browser's speech recognition, which not every browser provides. Upload the audio or paste text instead. If recognition errors partway, Ramble flags the transcript as possibly partial and keeps the audio.

Transcribing an upload is slow, or stops

The first upload downloads the Whisper model (about 80 MB) and needs a network connection. After that it works offline. Speed depends on your device and on whether WebGPU is available. If WebGPU fails, Ramble retries with WASM. A job with no progress for 120 seconds is stopped, and you can retry or write the text yourself.

A to-do, idea or decision is missing or wrong

Filing reads wording cues, not meaning. See How filing works for the exact cues. Add the item by hand, or edit the transcript and choose Re-organize.

My memos disappeared

Local mode keeps data in this browser's IndexedDB. Clearing site data, using a private window or switching browsers starts you fresh. Turn on "Protect my memos" in Settings, and keep a JSON export. If you signed in, memos you created while signed out stay in the local store until you move them to your account in Settings.

Offline does not work yet

Offline coverage is reliable from the second load, so open the app once online first. Model downloads and Supabase traffic always need a connection.

Links expire, and a link opened in a different browser than the one that asked for it is rejected. Request a new one.
